GAC exports fourteen passenger models under three brands. They are not three price tiers — they are three different answers to the same question, and picking the wrong one costs you either margin or aftersales headaches.
GAC MOTOR — the volume range
Nine nameplates, mostly petrol and hybrid, and the part of the range that asks least of local infrastructure. The GS3 EMZOOM and GS4 MAX are the compact and mid-size SUVs, both on the 1.5T GDI with the seven-speed wet DCT. The EMKOO sits between them on equipment. The GS8 is the seven-seat flagship, sold as a 2.0T petrol or a 2.0TM hybrid using Toyota's THS.
The MPVs are the M6 PRO, the M8 and the E9. The M6 PRO is the working seven-seater on a 1.5T GDI. The M8 is the flagship, 5,212 mm long on a 3,070 mm wheelbase with a 2.0T and first-class second-row seats. The E9 shares that bodyshell but runs a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. The NEW EMPOW is the performance sedan, 2.0T, 0–100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
The S7 is the newest and sits slightly apart: a five-seat PHEV SUV with a 36.3 kWh battery, 150 km of pure-electric range on NEDC and 1,020 km combined on CLTC, ten airbags and a 15.6-inch central display.
AION — the electric volume brand
Four battery-electric models on GAC's GEP 2.0 platform with the Magazine Battery pack. The AION V is the mainstream SUV, quoted by GAC at up to 650 km CLTC with seven airbags and a five-star ENCAP and ANCAP body. The AION Y is the smaller SUV on a 2,750 mm wheelbase. The AION ES is the sedan, and the AION UT is the compact urban hatchback with a 14.6-inch display and flat-folding seats.
HYPTEC — the premium electric brand
One model in the export range: the HYPTEC HT, a luxury electric SUV with gullwing rear doors that open to 213 cm, eight radars, four-zone voice control and a standard 600 km range. It is the halo car, not the volume seller.
Matching the range to a market
- Limited charging and long intercity runs — GS4 MAX, GS3 EMZOOM, EMKOO, M6 PRO.
- Mixed urban use with some charging — S7 or E9, both plug-in hybrids that run on petrol when the network runs out.
- Dense cities with reliable charging — AION UT, AION Y, AION V.
- Executive, hotel and airport fleets — M8 for petrol, E9 for plug-in hybrid.
- Premium retail — HYPTEC HT.
